We place an important focus on participatory design, and start our projects by one on one meetings with our clients to gain relevant insights about the problem spaces and design opportunities given to us. The client will be involved throughout the whole project from the initial planning where we first layout the design of the buildings to the urban planning in the area.

We first start with  identifying what works best for the client and community. With a combination of identifying what the client needs as well as scouting the local area we can create a better understanding of what needs to be done for this project to be successful. The architectural and interior designer will work hand in hand to ensure that the design will be cohesive and functional. We work closely with the contractors and suppliers to ensure our vision of the project is met.

Meeting + Scoping + Site Scouting

In the initial phase of a project, we begin with a preliminary survey of the project property in order to grasp the possibilities and restrictions present to help us inform our design direction. This initial survey will also include research into local bylaws and building codes to ensure a legally sound process.

Once the initial survey and legal research has been completed, we will begin defining the parameters of the project, mediating between client requests, bylaws and physical/spacial limitations.

Ideation

We start with a divergent process of quickly visualizing various ideas with a less critical approach, to ensure we allow the team to think outside the box. After the initial sketches and concepts, we start exploring a few of them more in depth in the convergent phase of our process and in this step we begin feedback loops from other avenues of the project’s timeline to guide the feasibility of the design.

Architectural + Interior Design

After finalizing the concept, we start getting into the details of the experience of the chosen home, and while mapping out the various spaces in the house, we begin drawing plans and elevations to solidify the design of the space. This stage also includes often other modes of working like rough physical scale prototyping to draw relevant insights. Once the plans are agreed upon, we move towards digital visualization and creating a full detailed model of the proposed space.
